To go with my Brit and Commonwealth dah;
A 1940 dated Brit machete! Again, from a carboot sale! Blade is still nicely blackened, rather than being polished up. Scabbard is in as good, if not better condition than the one shown below. - £8!!!

I really should start to put a Chindit kit together...

No need ,they were issued in each section in NWE ,regular D Day kit not to everyone I don't think,but quite common to cut through french hedgerows.

Got one at a local steam show last year for a £1 !! dated 1917 with matching dated scabbard.

High leg *or* DMS?

Eithers cool it's just DMS tend to be ankle boots like ammo boots (i imagine thats what you wanted for WWII) and the 'boots combat high' are the high leg 80s type that folk sometimes use to represent FJ boots.

Edit: From your avatar i reckon it's probably the second option :) Nice, i always regretted trading mine in for assault boots.

Really? You'd rather have a pair of "Boots, Cardboard, Horrible" than a pair of Assaults'? :shock:

I would. Assault boots are crap in my experience, whoever thought of the speed lacing system should be hung by a pair of his own boot laces! I've walked thousands of miles in BCH and, never had a problem. It's a myth that they're no good.

The man speaks truth.

When Assault boots came in we were gutted as recruits we had BCHs issued (did all my recruit training in BCH and never had a single blister), i deliberately 'sabotaged' one of my pairs of BCH to exchange them for assault boots and regretted it for ever after.

Not as comfy as BCG, scuff up really easily, the speed lacings crap like Pete says.

In the end i 'organised' a pair of pro boots for the winter and bought a pair of junglies for moocing about and used my other pair of BCH for most other things (and I had a pair of RAF aircrew boots that were comfy a for day to day duties... they looked like normal army boots but were really soft and had next to no tread on them somore like shoes underneath).

Boots you can never have too many!

The main gripe I've had with BCH is they're not as submergable as Assault boots, and they've got as much purchase with the grip of the sole as that of a greased turd.
I do prefer the look of BCH, and they're in my common attire when out at clubs.

I ordered a few bits of German and American insignia from Morigi yesterday lunch time, nothing massive, a few bevo bits for chest and cap and an original div badge for arm.
They were here this morning.
